FLASHING PEOPLE Since 1997

I remember the day I decided I wanted to be a photographer, I was about 10, and my parents and I were at the park walking around the pond at golden hour. The sun was dancing along the little ripples and waves making the water sparkle brightly. Everything was so saturated with summer color, and the grass was a vibrant green speckled with sunshine yellow flowers edging the water. I was walking behind them, as I tend to do, just watching them walk together ahead of me. And as I’m walking, this huge dragonfly zips through my line of sight, straight to the water. And I remember thinking how I never wanted to forget this moment of the people I love most. So! I asked for a camera for my birthday and thats when I got my hands on my very first point and shoot, along with some film. I ran through that film so fast and to everyone’s dismay I started on my never ending mission to photograph everything and everyone, as to not forget them or the moments we had. The number of photos I have of family members with their hands in their face is enough to put the paparazzi to shame.

On a more solemn note however, I also learned very young that sometimes photos are all that you get to carry of someone you love, for the rest of your time on Earth. That they don’t always get to make your journey with you, but could keep them close with a photograph. And thus my journey to provide the same memories for other people.

As I grew into a young adult, my mission remained the same, but now also with the determination to show others their own beauty when they may have missed it for themselves. But at the heart of it, using photography to freeze time, a moment, a person is what I do it for.

When my camera isn’t lovingly shoved in someone’s face, I also love to travel and capture those moments. And let me shamelessly plug them here!
